Reduce the risk of injuries with proper training and suitable equipment!

A well-rounded exercise program that challenges your endurance, technique, coordination, and strength is essential for staying injury-free as a lacrosse player.

If you know, you know—lacrosse is among the most physically and technically challenging sports out there.

GEAR

Lacrosse players use a stick with a mesh pocket at the end to catch and throw the ball during gameplay. The ball, made of solid rubber, is slightly larger than a tennis ball. To minimize the risk of injuries caused by the ball or contact with other players’ sticks, wearing proper protective gear is essential.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Women’s lacrosse is a low-contact sport, so the mandatory protective gear is limited to a mouthguard. However, it’s also advisable to use protective gloves and eye protection. The mesh pocket on women’s lacrosse sticks is slightly different from those used in men’s lacrosse, making stick and ball handling more technically challenging in the women’s game.

MEN’S LACROSSE

Men’s lacrosse is a high-contact sport, making protective gear absolutely essential.
The required equipment is similar to what’s used in ice hockey and American football, including helmets with face masks, shoulder pads, padded gloves, and a mouthguard.

Incorporating injury prevention into your training routine

Combine various elements of the exercise program and include them as part of your warm-up. This will create an effective and straightforward routine that strengthens the areas of your body most prone to injury, thereby helping to reduce the overall risk of injury.
